A little bit of something different today. I've recently been filming, recording, mixing and editing some tracks from the Grade 1 Rockschool series of books. It's been a completely new experience for me, getting to grips with software I've not used before and getting used to everything that goes with it.
The first of my play throughs is 'Bend & Snap', a Rockschool original written by Peter Huntington.
I've found that the parts my students have found trickiest are the offbeat bass drums, these are in bars 8,12 and so on. Also, the open Hi-hat placement in bar 26 can be a little difficult at first. As always, the trick here is to play it through incredibly slowly, note for note until you get the part into your muscle memory. Check out my play through below, and if you have any questions about this, or any other track in the Rockschool series, please get in touch!
